Cd baby reviews the new Power & Force II CD
06/26/2009 10:33 AM
Desiree' - We love your "DESIREE' APOLONIO BASSETT: Power & Force, Vol. II" CD so much that we're going to feature it on the CD Baby front page for a day, and in our Editor's Picks section from now on. We're *really* picky about what we feature. We receive about 300 new albums a DAY, (over 300,000 total), and yours is one of the best we've ever heard. Here's the pertinent info: THE DATE YOUR CD WILL BE ON THE FRONT PAGE OF CDBABY.COM (This is the big day - make a note of it somewhere.) Friday, June 26th 2009 OUR REVIEW (Feel free to quote it anywhere!) While this guitar-centric propulsion of quick-fingered rock would be impressive regardless of who those nimble digits belonged to, the fact that these sounds are squealing from the amp of a young lady who is still a few years shy of graduating high school makes it all the more impressive. Also impressive: the fact that these are all original compositions. Perhaps most impressive: the level of dexterity represented within the shifting genres and methods she tackles over the course of these 10 songs. Whether fast ("Power & Force"), slow ("Never Back Down"), acoustic ("Love Her"), or straight up shredding ("Pulse"), she never seems out of her comfort zone. While some young prodigies are content to cover classic rock staples and sacrifice groove and feel for technicality, this is a girl who seems to already have a handle on the way this music ticks. Oh, and she sings, too. While her hands continue to work double overtime. If this hasn't convinced you, look her up on YouTube. Hit play, get your mind blown, then come back here and get in on the ground floor. This from the mouths and desk of CD Baby themselves. I was blown away by this and wanted to share this with the world.

Just poppin' by to say hi, and hope all is well. I'm just incredibly busy with my web forum, new members signing on more often, and I've also started a twitter , an ourstage and a myspace for TFCT, so .... busy busy busy...but I stll pop onto a Desi video with regularity, and pass no opportunity to heads-up unsuspecting music lovers, with this amazing and admirable young lady's music. Regards, all! Bobby

I just discovered your videos last night and I'm completely blown away. I've been playing and teaching for over 30 years and I've never seen anyone with such a natural feel for guitar. I've taught two virtuosos, but you completely blow them out of the water. Hell, you're doing things I can't even after all these years of playing and I used to sleep with my guitar. Literally. I'd fall asleep holding the thing and then wake up and start playing again. There's only been a small handful of guitar players that have captivated me the way you have...Hendrix, Eddie VH, and Mathias Jabs. And now you. I never let anyone touch my Les Paul, let alone desecrate it, but if you ever make it down towards Memphis I would be honored if you'd sign my guitar...maybe some of your magic will rub off. Sorry about my disjointed message, I'm still a bit speechless after watching your performances.

Not worthy......

I am honored to have been invited and accepting to the DB camp. It will take a little while for it to sink in. Yes young lady, this 38 year old fogie is hitching a ride on your vibrance train and I am happy to oblige as public relations liason or Enforcer as I call it ! :-)))))))))))))) I don't think we''ll get Castle Donnington or Madison Square Garden soon so the local Rod-n-Gun Clubs and Knights of Columbus Halls will have to do for now ! LOL
